Description
This course is a 2-week exploration of Jazz theory and harmony for improvisation. Students will learn about intervals, chord structure, basic chord progressions, chord and scale relationship, practical application of scales including the blues and modes of the major and minor scales. Students will acquire exercises to incorporate into a daily practice routine that will assist in the development of improvisation while also finding one's own unique voice. Open to all instrumentalists.
Prerequisites: Must have a minimum of 3 years playing experience. Must read music.
The course is taught by two of the Bay Area's highly acclaimed Jazz musicians and educators,
guitarist Terrence Brewer and trumpeter Christopher Clark.
